Getting comfortable with poetry and a limerick

The poetry panel project, while it was a lot of work, was a great opportunity for me to experience more poetry. Personally, I thought listening to other groups present and give a deep analysis and break-down on complex and new poems was really interesting. I loved seeing the different ways that others could convey their purpose and meaning, and the different way everything was interpreted depending on the reader. I especially liked the presentation on I used to be a Rollar Coaster because it was written by a spoken word poet and the spacing was very unique and interesting.
I think with both the mentor poet project and the poetry panel project, I've gotten a lot more comfortable with poetry in general. Especially after reading everyone's blogs and seeing people go through the same experience, this unit was made a lot better. After seeing so many other people write poetry, I thought I would write a limerick as well for Saint Patty's Day.

Even though it's late at night,
I'm sitting in bed gearing up for a fight.
The fists are drawn,
I place my pawns,
But this water bottle cap is too tight.
